Monday, August 29th, 2011Triumph has announced a recall for certain 2011 and 2012 Tiger 800 and Tiger 800 XC motorcycles, manufactured between September 2010 to June 2011. The problem is being blamed on a glitch with the engine management software (EMS). According to the report file with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the old EMS could lead to low RPMs and a potential stall when decelerating. Yamaha Recalls FJR1300 Motorcycles
Wednesday, July 6th, 2011Yamaha is recalling certain 2006-2009 FJR1300 motorcycles for an electrical problem that could lead to malfunctioning electrical systems or the engine stalling unexpectedly. The bikes, built between February 2006 to March of 2009 could have a ground joint connector harness that could overheat and cause an intermittent ground connection. Yamaha dealers will install an additional grounding lead and replace any wires and connectors damaged by heat. Owners wanting more information on the recall can contact Yamaha at 1-800-962-7926.
2011 MV Agusta F4 Motorcycles Recalled

Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta (MVA) is recalling over two hundred 2010 F4 Motorcycles. According to a report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the upper fixture points of the sub frame may not be strong enough and could lead to frame cracks and instability of the vehicle. A reinforcement support kit will be installed by dealers free of charge.
This is the second recall for this motorcycle in the past year. Last June MVA recalled almost seventy 2010 MV Agusta F4 super bikes for a faulty air filter frame that may become loose, allowing material to enter the system. This debris could damage the assembly causing the motor to seize.

Suzuki Recalls Motorcycles For Regulators
Monday, February 28th, 2011Suzuki is recalling certain 2008-2010 motorcycles for regulator/rectifier assemblies that were produced with insufficient adhesion between the power module circuit board and the rectifier case heat sink. Without proper adhesion, the power module could overheat causing the circuit board to deform and lift from the case. As a result, there could be insufficient charge to the battery. The part numbers of the rectifier assemblies being recalled are: 32800-41F11, 32800-15H10, 32800-05H11, 32800-41G10, 32800-15H00, 32800-18H00, 32800-05G10, 32800-10G10, 32800-05H20, OR 32800-06G01. These rectifiers have been installed on:

- 2008-2009 – SUZUKI / DL1000
- 2008-2009 – SUZUKI / GSF1250
- 2008-2009 – SUZUKI / GSX-R600

BMW Recalls Motorcycles
Wednesday, June 30th, 2010BMW will be recalling over 15,000 motorcycles for three separate safety issues. If owners have any questions about the recalls, they may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
Certain 2007 – 2009 R 1200 and K 1200 series motorcycles manufactured between August 2006 to May 2009 may develop stress cracks on the brake lines due to vibration and strain on the line. These lines could develop leaks, and if unnoticed could drain the brake reservoir, causing the front brakes to fail. Starting in July, BMW will notify owners and dealers will install a new brake line with a protective sleeve, free of charge.
Certain 2008 – 2009 F650 GS and 800 GS motorcycles manufactured between September 27, 2007 to March 30, 2009 may have drive chains that have not been produced to the proper specifications. The chain could break over time and could become trapped between the rear wheel and the frame, resulting in rear wheel lock up. Neither a remedy nor a notification schedule has been provided by the manufacturer.
Finally, certain 2007 – 2008 G650 X Country, G650 X Challenge, and G650 X Moto motorcycles manufactured between November 29, 2006 to May 19, 2008 may have a roll gear pin mount that could bread over time. If the mount breaks, fragments could become trapped between the drive chain and the rear sprocket causing the rear wheel to lock up. Neither a remedy nor a notification schedule has been provided by the manufacturer.
Manufacturers Announce Safety Recalls
Monday, June 22nd, 2009Two motorcycle manufacturers and three automobile manufacturers have announced safety recalls this month. The recalls were issued by the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) and include Harley-Davidson which is recalling 11,000 of its motorcycles, and Ducati which is recalling 730 of its motorcycles. The automobile manufacturers include Volvo which is recalling 17,500 models, Kia which is recalling 35,000 of its Optima model, and Hyundai which is recalling 175,000 vehicles. The recalls require that the defects in these motorcycles and vehicles be repaired with no expense to the consumer.
