Thursday, September 13th, 2012Lamborghini is notifying customers to bring their 2004-2006 Gallardo Coupe and 2004-2006 Spyder vehicles to their nearest dealership to update the power steering system. In certain driving conditions, the high pressure steering pipes near the steering assist hydraulic pump could leak. If fluid should come in contact with a hot surface or ignition source a fire could result. According to Lamborghini, the problem was discovered during hard driving condition testing, and could affect almost 1,500 vehicles. Porsche Turbo Fire Risk
Wednesday, July 18th, 2012Porsche has announced that they will be recalling almost 300 Panamera and Cayenne vehicles for a manufacturing error that could lead to a fire. According to Porsche, a casting defect of the turbocharger turbine wheel could cause it to fracture resulting in damage to the turbine shaft. If the shaft should fracture, oil could be drawn into the exhaust system resulting in smoke and the risk of a fire. Porsche will be notifying owners of the problem, this month, and will replace the defective turbine wheel, free of charge. BMW Steering Problem
Wednesday, June 27th, 2012BMW has announced a recall for certain X5 and X6 crossover vehicles because of a machining error of the steering gear surface. The problem could lead to power steering leaks that could spray onto hot exhaust parts increasing the risk of an engine fire. Fire Investigation Adds 2012 Chevy Cruze
Monday, May 28th, 2012A recent investigation into engine fires in some 2011 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles has been widened to include some 2012 models. The investigation was open last March after complaints of engine fires was reported in two 2011 Chevy Cruze vehicles, but additional reports of fires in some 2012 vehicles has lead the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to include the newer models. According to the investigation reports, the probe is focusing on electrical wiring and the transmission control module. If the probe leads to a recall, over 370,000 vehicles could be involved.
Jeep Wrangler Fire Problem
Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012Chrysler has announced a recall for certain 2010 Jeep Wranglers after receiving fourteen complaints of fires starting in the catalytic converter area. According to the recall report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these vehicles were manufactured before July 2010 and have a skid plate to protect the automatic transmission during off road driving. Chrysler said that the skid plate can collect debris and the heat from the catalytic converter could lead to a fire. Chrysler will be notifying owners starting in May, and will replace the skid plate with a skid bar that doesn’t collect debris. Porsche 911 Carrera S Fuel Leaks
Wednesday, March 28th, 2012Porsche has announced a recall for certain 2012 Carrera S 911 vehicles for a potential fuel leak. According to the recall filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), interference between a coolant line and a fuel line could cause the fuel line to be disconnected. A fuel leak could lead to a misfiring engine, stalling, and in the presence of an ignition source a potential fire. Porsche will be notifying owners starting in April, and will replace the fuel line with one that does not have a quick disconnect connector. NHTSA Investigates GM Door Fires
Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating certain GM vehicles after receiving twelve complaints of smoke and fire from the inside of doors of some Trail Blazer mid-size sport utility vehicles. The complaints are similar to consumer reports that lead the NHTSA to open an investigation into some 2007 Camry, Camry Solara and Rav4 vehicles, earlier this month. The NHTSA will be focusing on whether window switches on the GM and Toyota vehicles were manufactured by the same supplier. The investigation could affect up to 310,000, 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazers. According to the safety administration, the Buick Rainer, Saab 9-7x, and the GMC Envoy share the same parts at the Trail Blazer, but these vehicle are not part of the investigation yet

Ford Escape Brake Problems
Wednesday, January 11th, 2012Ford is recalling certain 2001-2002 Escape SUVs for a problem with the brake system, that could lead to a fire. According to the recall report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the master cylinder reservoir cap could leak fluid onto an anti-lock brake system (ABS) wiring harness connector, causing it to corrode. The corroded connector could short, overheat, and eventually start a fire. Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder reservoir cap and the ABS electrical system will be modified. Ford will be notifying customers starting the last week of January, but because of parts delays, instructions will be given to park vehicles outside until parts become available.
