Jaguar F-Type, XF & XJ Safety Defects

A number of safety concerns affecting certain 2015 Jaguar F-Type, XF, and XJ cars will have approximately 272 owners returning to their dealership for repairs.

A questionable assembly process could result in the Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) belt, Power Assisted Steering (PAS) pump pulley, positive cable at the alternator, and associated parts to loosen and detach. If the battery positive cable loosens, an electrical short may result, increasing the risk of a fire. If the FEAD belt looses or detaches, the vehicle may lose power assisted steering, increasing the risk of a crash. Continue reading →

Tesla Model S Charging Adapter Could Overheat

Tesla has acknowledged a problem affecting certain Universal Mobile Connectors (“UMC”) NEMA 14-50 adapters used to charge Tesla Model S vehicles. According to the recall report, a variety of factors such as corrosion, physical damage to receptacles, or inappropriate installation of electrical outlets can cause higher than normal electrical resistance. Electrical resistance heating in the adapter or at the wall socket could lead to melting of the adapter, cord or wall receptacle. 2014 Maserati Quattroporte GTS Alternator Problem

Maserati North America has determined that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists in sixty three 2014 Maserati Quattroporte GTS V8 vehicles. The automobile manufacturer has notified the NHTSA about the defect and will be asking owners to take their vehicles in to the nearest manufacturer approved repair facility to have electrical repairs done to the alternator starter wiring harness. 2014 Chevrolet Malibu Electrical Problem

General Motor’s have identified an electrical installation error in certain 2013 Chevy Malibu sedans equipped with an eight way power front seat and passenger seat options. The wiring harness in these vehicles may have been installed poorly and could chafe against the seat frame, eventually wearing through the wires insulation. A short in the electrical system could result in unintended movement of the seat, sparking, intermittent lighting, melted wiring, smoke or a fire. Continue reading →
