Owners of certain 2010-2014 Volkswagen vehicles will be receiving safety notices for a problem affecting the air bag system. According to reports listed on the NHTSA website, the steering wheel clock spring could become contaminated with debris causing a displacement of the internal guide loops and tension to the internal flat cable. If the cable tears, loss of electrical connection to the driver’s front airbag will disable the airbag and cause the airbag monitoring indicator light to illuminate. Continue reading

Missing Airbag Bolts On 2015 Dodge Challenger
Chrysler will be asking a small number of 2015 Dodge Challenger owners to return to their dealers to repair a problem affecting the airbag system. Due to a manufacturing error, the driver side air bag inflated curtain (SABIC) may have a loose or missing rear mounting bolt. 2014 Dodge SRT Viper Airbag Deployment Problem
Owners of certain 2014 Dodge SRT Viper vehicles manufactured between November 28, 2012 to June 26, 2014, will be notified by the manufacturer to have their vehicles repaired for an airbag safety problem.
According to the recall report, these vehicles may experience an incorrect airbag deployment velocity, due to inaccurate seat position sensors. 2015 Honda Fit Airbag Safety Problem
Owners of some 2015 Honda Fit vehicles will be contacted by the automobile manufacturer to return their vehicles to an approved dealer to have the A-pillar interior cover inspected. During assembly, it is possible that the A-pillar interior cover designed for vehicles without side curtain airbags may have been installed on vehicles that have side curtain airbags. General Motors has decided that a defect relating to airbag safety exists in certain 2014 Corvette sports cars. Owners will be issued notices with instructions to return to their dealership to have the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) replaced, free of charge. Rupturing Airbags Prompt NHTSA Investigation
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have announced that they will be opening an investigation into automobiles from five major automobile manufacturers for problems with airbags that could rupture and injure vehicle occupants. The announcement comes after six reports of air bag inflator ruptures occurring in areas that have consistently hot, humid conditions. The NHTSA has received notification from BMW, Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota that they will be issuing limited regional recalls to repair possible safety defects involving these Takata brand air bag inflators. 2014 Ford Escape And C-Max Airbag Software Error
Ford has identified a software error in certain 2013-2014 Escape and C-Max vehicles that could cause a delayed deployment of the side curtain rollover air bags. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the supplier of the Restraint Control Module (RCM), reversed polarity of the vertical axis sensing configuration file of the Safety Canopy System. Toyota Illuminating Airbag Warning Lights
Drivers of certain Toyota and Pontiac vehicles could experience an airbag safety defect that could result in the airbag becoming inoperable. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the steering column in these vehicles contain a spiral cable assembly which contains the electrical connections to the driver’s airbag module. When the steering wheel is turned, the cable could contact a small point of the retainer and become damaged. The airbag could become deactivated causing it not to deploy during an accident.
