The owners of certain 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan and 2015 Audi Q5 vehicles will be contacted by the manufacturer about a problem affecting the driver and right front passenger seat mounted side airbags. According to the defect report, a manufacturing error could result in airbag components being propelled into the passenger compartment when they are deployed, potentially injuring occupants.

Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the side air bag modules. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact Audi customer service at 1-800-822-2834 or Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 69M1 (for Audi) and 69L9 (for VW). The NHTSA campaign number is 16V-045.
