Approximately 29,000 model year 2012-2013 Ford Edge crossover vehicles equipped with 2.0L engines could be affected with a fuel system problem that could result in a vehicle fire. This includes vehicles previously recalled and repaired under Ford Safety Recall 1240 (NHTSA campaign number 12V-438).

According to reports filed with the NHTSA, damage caused to the fuel damper during manufacturing could lead to fatigue cracking in the fuel pulse damper. The problem could result in fuel odors, seepage, or a small leak while the system is pressurized. (No accidents, injuries, or fires, have been reported to date as a result of the condition.)

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail and instructed to return their Edge crossover to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the fuel line with the pulse damper replaced with a fuel line which does not have a damper. Fords recall number is 13S13 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-002. For more information about the problem, owners can call Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
