The Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2013 C-Max hybrids because these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201, “Occupant Protection in Interior Impact.” Approximately 33,000 vehicles are affected by this recall. (NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V-303. Ford’s recall number is 13C02.)

According to the recall report, the affected vehicles do not have panoramic roofs and were built with insufficient interior head impact protection at the roof B-Pillar area. Dealers will install energy absorbers between the headliner and the roof giving extra protection for occupants. Owners will be notified via first class mail after repair instructions have been provided to dealers and parts become available.

Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact the Ford customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332.
