Ford Motor Company is conducting a safety recall on certain 2012 Ford Taurus, 2012 Lincoln MKS, and 2013 Ford Explorer vehicles due to potential fuel tank problem. Some of these vehicles may have been fitted with a fuel tank that may have been manufactured with inadequate blow mold press hydraulic clamp pressure. As a result, the side tank seam may have been only marginally sealed and may not provide the expected strength in an accident. There have also been some reports of fuel smells and fuel leaks. Ford will begin notifying owners beginning April 22, 2013, and dealers will inspect the fuel tanks and replace them as necessary. Owners wanting more information about the fuel problem can contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.
